Supertron booty call…

So I’m working late, I took a break, and drew these guys.

supergone

I think I miss drawing them. It’d be fun to do something with them when I get the rights back sometime late next year. It might even be 2015, not sure.

Hey, let me ask a hypothetical question, and I stress HYPOTHETICAL, but humour me: If Supertron was ever to see print, would you want to read it in a regular comic book format, or would it be better in the landscape layout?

Because I’m torn. It started as the former, then conformed to the latter, but what should it be in print? By all logic I guess I should lay it out in a vinyl sized circle only to be read on turn tables and microwave plates, reading only made possible by mechanically aided spinning. Who knows? And really with my day job/freelance commitments who cares?

Either way, hell or high water, an artist should finish everything they start. Even if it sucks. And while Supertron didn’t suck TOO badly, I should make the time to finish them off and put them to bed. Lest they become my “coulda been, never was.”

Man I’m bummed the Kings lost tonight.

xoxo

    The Kings suck.
I’d read supertron in any form it came in but you already have so much of it in landscape.
    Just kidding about the Kings.
Supertron video game would be dope *nudge nudge*
    But seriously the Kings suck.

  2. Dirt

Don’t really mind either format, whatever you feel like is the true vision for SuperTron.

Dude, I gots it both ways, but I like the landscape moar for some reason… JUST SAYING GEEZISS.

  4. Mr.Sheldon

Yeah…looking at it again, i’m remembering all these plans i had to exploit the landscape that zuda wouldn’t allow. It’d save a fuck tonne of work too. HMMMMMmmmm….

    thanks for your inputs peeps.

Music!!! Sheldon, this is MUSIC TO MY EARS!
Your Hypothetical music already made me excited, i put my whole life on hold in anticipation of the release of Super tron… (Fear and Loathing in las Vegas: “Finish the Goddamn Story!!!”)

Whatever you think will cause more impact in public, I’d start taking bus rides on purpose so I can flip ST open and read it as it was a double spread Pin up magazine with a grin and one eyebrow up!

Landscape is awesome on my tablet. Also where can I find a cbz version of full Supertron? Ive only found part of it online.

  7. SUMGUY

I’d say landscape but if you don’t think it would work i’d still buy a regular format version.
Print would be amazing but hell, Id be just as tickled pink and ready to hurl wards of cash at you even if you just finished it and threw it up online.

I think I’m actually having some delayed withdrawals… I started jotting down ideas for a short Supertron fan comic a few months ago that I’m probably never going to do.
    It trancends retarded.

Holy shit really?? How’s this, if you finish your story, I’ll finish mine. Then I’ll pad out my imaginary book with your pages.

      • SUMGUY

        hahahah no,no,no,no, NO!
You should ceaful, Sheldon. For all you know i could be some horrible artist like Tom Preston.
But if i ever actually do get get off my backside and make it you’ll be the first to know.
        But I’m promising squat!

And have you written and ending for supertron yet?

        • Mr.Sheldon

Hahaha I googled Tom Preston. You better not draw like Tom Preston.

And there is an ending for Supertron. Probably the only ending I’ve written that seems to make sense…to me at least. Kind of. haha.

I´d like regular format, you must totally finish that shit man because since the issues for DEADPOOL and a Godzilla comic with your variant cover i haven´t get something of your work, every time i go to the comic store i search hoping to find a brand new Mr. Sheldon’s comicbook which for some reason i didn’t find out on internet, plus i didn´t have the chance to read Supertron and i want to do so.

Landscape dude. I don’t have any books like that yet on the shelf and you already have a bunch of pages in landscape. Either or though is cool, I’d buy Supertron in any format really. I still haven’t finished reading it all (bad at keeping up on web comics) but everything I have read thus far has been really cool. Love your colours too – they pop right out and would look sick on paper.

    Mr. Sheldon,

Have you ever considered taking Supertron to Kickstarter and fulfilling it that way? You could even set it up as different tiers for people to request the comic in Landscape or Traditional. I would buy it!!

    • Mr.Sheldon

That would entail me making BOTH formats and good god I’m not that much of a masochist haha.

Kickstarter has helped a lot of people with their projects, and I guess maybe once I get the rights back I could look more into the process.

  11. Nima Afshar

Kickstarter – Landscape format. Supertron would generate at least $20 or $30,000 in my opinion. Have you seen the other stuff that sells on there? Plus, you could get that shit on comixology and make a bundle their too. Personally I’d love to see some new Supertron also.

    • Mr.Sheldon

Damn! That’s a pretty flattering projection! And I’ve seen some other really good web series/comics get HUGE responses from KS. Definitely something to think about.

  12. koalaaa

On a slightly different note: If you do a kickstarter II’d totally also buy a book with all your sketches in it (supertron based would rock, but actually I want every fucking sketch you ever did in your life!! – the killaudio sketches were way too few in the collected cover) (just looking at the supertron sketches on your old dA page again made me realize how much I love your paper work) – or the entervoid stuff (your most recent comic that was not finished but maaan these progress stuff rocks!)

so where do I send the money to?!!!

    • Mr.Sheldon

hahaha you’re awesome. Sad fact of the matter is, I barely ever sketch. Every now and then I’ll dump some stuff, but most of the time, I just hammer it out on the page I’m drawing. A lot of Supertron stuff happened that way. Anything you see online is probably all there is!

  13. Cross

Man, supertron is one of the best comics i’ve read.
When i was reading it online it took me like 4 days at most to “finish” it. Keep it coming, i have never back any kickstarter project but a supertron one, i would…. I’m writing like Yoda, i think my english is a lil rusty.
So, anyways….BRING SUPER TRON BACK, YOU MUST!

I’d buy it in either format – but it would need to be a graphic novel instead of a series 32 page issues. Graphic novels are harder to damage and are easier to store.

Would be cool if it also included some bonus material like Survival of the Festive.

    • Mr.Sheldon

Totally. I didn’t really like how they split it up onto comixology, it’s not a story that’s too easy to segregate, given how clumsy a writer i am haha. Thanks for your input!
